Suzanne Buckingham Slade is the author of over 60 books for children. Her titles include picture books, biographies, as well as titles about animals, sports, planets, and various science topics.

Before beginning her writing career Ms. Slade worked in the engineering field for several years. She holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and currently lives near Chicago with her husband, Mike, and two children, Christina and Patrick. Ms. Slade spends most days doing what she loves – dreaming up new story ideas, reading the latest children’s books, doing research, and best of all – writing books! She also enjoys visiting schools and sharing her love of books.

Susan B. Anthony-Fighter for Freedom and Equality (illus. by Craig Orback) was named to the 2008 Amelia Bloomer Recommended Titles list.

 

Suzanne's next picture book, What's New at the Zoo? (illus. by Joan Waites) comes out July, 2009.
